Carillon Cottage, opened in August 2001, provides a unique service for the local community . Owned by Wadhurst Parish Church, it is managed and staffed entirely by volunteers in sympathy with its Christian ethos and aim, which is ‘Seeking to express the love of Christ in practical ways’.
Services at Carillon Cottage include: –
- The Parish Church Administrative Office – open Monday – Friday 9.00 am – 12 Noon.
- An Information and Drop-in Centre open six mornings and four afternoons per week
- The Social Action Project (SAP)
- Village Box Office for events and concerts
- Wheelchair Loan Scheme
- Wireless Internet Access, photocopying and laminating
- Meeting rooms available for Church and community use
The Information Centre is staffed by a trained Welcome Team of over 30 volunteers.
A range of information is available including Welfare Benefits leaflets, details of facilities for people with disabilities, Tourist information and local transport timetables. The Cottage also has details of village activities, meetings and events including local church services and holds the village diary.
For more specialist advice Crowborough Citizens Advice Bureau run a session at Carillon Cottage on alternate Wednesdays from 9.00 am – 12 Noon. Confidential advice is available on a range of issues including debt, relationship, employment and income maximisation.
The Social Action Project (SAP) aims to provide practical neighbourly help to anyone living in the Wadhurst area, and is staffed by a large team of willing volunteers.
