Worth Abbey – The Open Cloister

At The Open Cloister at Worth Abbey the monks share their space of welcome and prayer with all those seeking God in their own lives. They Abbey is set in 50 acres overlooking the Sussex Weals, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and is the setting for the BBC TV’s ‘The Monastery” and “The Big Silence”.

Quiet Fridays

An opportunity to encounter God through prayer and reflection in space and silence.

Take time for stillness and solitude; enjoy the beautiful grounds and quiet garden; join the monastic midday prayer in the Abbey Church. A monk is on hand to provide spiritual help and guidance. Quiet Fridays are held on the second Friday of every month (except August) from 10.30 am to 3.30 pm. Take a packed lunch (tea and coffee provided). Booking is essential.

Throughout the year, Worth Abbey offers single Days of Reflection as well as mid-week and weekend Residential Retreats on a wide range of inspirational themes.

Worth Abbey also offers Weekends for Teenagers and Young Adults – small and large gatherings which offer spirituality, friendship and fun.

There is also a shop which sells books, CD’s, greetings cards and prayer cards.

Phone The Open Cloiser for details of the events at Worth for January to December. These details are also available on their website.
