Exposition Of The Blessed Sacrament
There are many Biblical reasons for having Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as reasons based on the teaching of the Church, and there is no doubt that this is an opportunity for personal growth and holiness.
It is an on-going prayer resource for the Parish. Anecdotal evidence in parishes where this is a regular devotion shows a growth in faith, increased Mass attendance, personal healings, answers to prayer and a strengthening of belief in the Real Presence and the importance of the Mass.
Exposition at the Sacred Heart Church is held on the first Friday of every month, from 9.00 am until just before the morning Mass at 10.00 am. (Check the Weekly Bulletin in case there are any changes).
Everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate in this Holy Hour. It means that you can have some time alone with Jesus – to recite your favourite prayers, read your Bible, contemplate, pray the Rosary, or do whichever type of prayerful devotion which suits you. Or, you can just sit and say nothing, simply keeping Him company, as you would a dear friend, allowing the sacred silence to envelop you and fill you.
Pope John Paul II said
“I encourage Christians to regularly visit Christ present in the Blessed Sacrament, for we are all called to abide in the presence of God. In contemplation, Christians will perceive ever more profoundly the mystery at the heart of human life”.
