Mothers’ Prayers is a prayer group for mothers who wish to pray together for their children and grand-children. In fact, all women, not only mothers, who have a desire to pray for children are welcome.
It was started in November 1995 by two women in Ashford, Kent. Veronica and Sandra had, for a while, felt a growing need to pray in a more committed way in order to combat the problems facing their children.
After a month of prayerful preparation they met with three other mothers and Mothers’ Prayers was formed.
It is now a world-wide chain of prayer, and the format used at the first meeting is the format which is now used by all Mothers’ Prayers groups throughout the world.
The popularity of Mothers’ Prayers has spread through word of mouth alone. Veronica will give talks when invited to do so and Mothers’ Prayers has never been advertised. Joyful report-backs of answered prayer are continuous.
The groups are small, usually ranging from two to eight people, and they meet as frequently as desired, depending on the group.
The Sacred Heart Mothers’ Prayers group meets once a week, starting with coffee and a chat before prayer begins. In this uncertain world, what greater blessing can we give our children than to pray for them – for their physical, emotional and spiritual well-being and protection, and for guidance for ourselves in our parenting of them.
You would be very welcome to join us.
There is a DVD available in which Veronica is interviewed and she explains how Mothers’ Prayers came into being and how the prayer groups are run.
