Preparation for these sacraments start early in September when groups are formed and catechists appointed.
The most important part of a child’s preparation is coming to Mass and no amount of teaching can replace this experience, so we hope to see you and your child at Mass often. Although we hope to encourage your children, you, as parents, have a much bigger influence than we do.
There is very good support support from the parish with a team of catechists to help the children prepare. Any of the catechists will be pleased to answer your questions. If your child is at a Catholic school there should be help at hand there also.
If you decide to enrol your child in the preparation group, it is of vital importance that you, as Parents, fully support your child throughout the whole experience. You can do this by ensuring that your child attends every session, and to make time to talk through with them what they have learnt and attending Mass regularly as a family.
You are seen as the first teachers of the faith. During our group sessions, we build upon what you do at home; you are the role models for your child.
